Refund policy

Fourteen days, a full refund, and an email address rather than a form. This page says what the window covers, how to ask, how the money comes back, and what happens to your licence key afterwards.

The short version

If GutenFields doesn't work as described, email support@guten-fields.com within 14 days of buying and you get a full refund. No form, no restocking fee, and no argument about it.

We would always rather fix the problem — usually it is a five-minute answer — but that is your choice to make, not ours. Ask for the money and you get the money.

What the 14 days covers

The window runs for 14 days from the date of purchase, and it covers the case this policy is really for: you bought it, it doesn't do what the site said it does. That includes the plugin not working on your host, conflicting with something you cannot change, or a feature behaving differently from the documentation.

Because this is downloadable software you keep, the window is not a rental period. These are the cases where we will say no:

  • After 14 days. Past that, talk to us anyway — if something is genuinely broken we would rather sort it out than stand on a date — but there is no automatic refund.
  • A feature we never claimed. The documentation and the pricing page are the description; if it isn't there, it isn't promised. Ask before you buy and you will get a straight answer.
  • Repeat buy-and-refund. Buying, refunding and buying again on a pattern that amounts to using the plugin for free.

There is a free edition — try that first

The free edition on WordPress.org is a finished plugin, not a trial: 19 of the 22 field types, the field builder, conditional logic, templates and the WP-CLI toolkit. Installing it is the surest way to find out whether GutenFields suits your site before any money changes hands.

How to ask

Email support@guten-fields.com from the address you bought with, and include:

  • your order reference or licence key — either is enough to find the purchase; and
  • a line on what went wrong, if anything did. It is not a condition of the refund; it is how the plugin gets better.

We aim to reply within two business days and to approve or query a request in that same reply. You do not need to uninstall anything first.

What happens to your licence

A refunded licence key is disabled. It stops receiving updates, stops downloading releases, and stops being covered by priority support. Any sites attached to it are released.

It does not uninstall or disable the plugin on your sites, and it cannot: GutenFields is GPL-2.0-or-later, and the GPL guarantees your right to keep running a copy you already have. We are not going to pretend otherwise. What we do ask, and expect, is that you stop using the paid edition once you have been refunded for it — the free edition is there and is a perfectly good plugin.

Second purchases and extensions

Buying the same licence again extends your existing key by another year rather than issuing a new one. That repurchase has its own 14-day window, counted from its own purchase date. Refunding it removes the extension it bought and leaves the original entitlement in place.

There is nothing recurring here to cancel. Every purchase is a one-off, so a refund is the only thing there ever is to ask for.

Your statutory rights

If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you normally have 14 days to cancel a distance purchase. For digital content downloaded immediately, that right ends once the download starts with your express consent and your acknowledgement that you are giving the right up — which is what happens at our checkout, and at every other software checkout.

The policy on this page is our own, and we give it deliberately: it puts you back roughly where the cancellation right would have, without the argument about when the download began.

Separately, and regardless of the 14 days, you have statutory rights if digital content is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose — in the UK, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Nothing on this page limits those rights. If the plugin is broken, come to us whenever you find out.

Chargebacks

Please email us before raising a chargeback with your bank. A refund we issue takes days; a chargeback takes weeks, costs both of us a fee, and disables your key just the same. We have never refused a refund inside the window, so there is nothing to be gained by going round us.

A chargeback raised without contacting us first will disable the licence key while it is investigated.

Contact

Refunds, billing and everything else go to the same address, and a person reads it.
